The engagement

This engagement involves leading a critical product costing and margin analysis redesign for a major automotive supplier transitioning to S/4HANA. The project is vital for streamlining financial controls and ensuring accurate, audit-ready cost accounting within the manufacturing environment.

Scope & deliverables

  • Completed end-to-end process flow documentation
  • Validated SIT and UAT test case results
  • Finalized cutover plan and month-end closing procedures
Month 1Complete discovery workshops and initial solution design architecture
Month 2Finalize configuration of cost center hierarchies and internal orders
Month 3Complete product costing and material ledger configuration validation

Month 5Conduct UAT and gather final business sign-offs

What you'll do

  • Facilitate design workshops with finance stakeholders to translate complex requirements into SAP CO configuration
  • Configure and iterate SAP CO, Product Costing, and Cost Center Accounting modules
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test scenarios for SIT and UAT phases
  • Produce detailed configuration workbooks, design documentation, and process flow diagrams
  • Provide expert guidance on leading practices and the downstream accounting impacts of design decisions
  • Support system cutover, go-live deployment, and initial month-end hypercare

Qualifications

Must have

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience with SAP CO and Product Costing
  • Proven delivery on at least two full-lifecycle implementations or major finance transformations
  • Expert knowledge of Cost Center Accounting, Internal Orders, and Margin Analysis (COPA)
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP accounting principles and financial close processes
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or equivalent experience

Nice to have

  • Relevant SAP platform certifications
  • Active CPA license or prior professional accounting/audit background
  • Industry experience within the automotive manufacturing sector
