The engagement

ControlPoint Risk is seeking a specialized consultant to lead a critical SOX-driven security redesign of the client's Workday Financials environment. This project focuses on establishing robust role-based security, automating business process controls, and ensuring full audit readiness for financial operations. Your work will directly impact the integrity and compliance posture of the organization's financial systems.

Scope & deliverables

  • Complete mapping and configuration of role-based security groups
  • Documented SoD conflict remediation plan and evidence packages
  • Configured and tested business process approval workflows
  • Operational runbooks and system design specification documents
Month 1Complete discovery, requirements gathering, and initial security design documentation
Month 2Execute configuration of security roles and business process workflows
Month 3Perform SoD analysis and begin initial remediation of identified conflicts
Month 4Conduct SIT/UAT cycles and finalize defect resolutions
Month 5Finalize documentation, complete knowledge transfer, and perform go-live support

What you'll do

  • Design and configure complex role-based security groups and business process approval workflows
  • Perform Segregation of Duties (SoD) analysis and remediate identified access conflicts
  • Translate high-level functional designs into documented, technical system specifications
  • Execute SIT and UAT testing cycles, including root-cause analysis and defect remediation
  • Create comprehensive design documentation and operational runbooks for seamless knowledge transfer
  • Collaborate with functional leads and finance stakeholders in an agile delivery environment

Qualifications

Must have

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Workday Financials Security and SOX controls
  • Proven track record of success in at least two full-lifecycle Workday implementation projects
  • Deep working knowledge of Segregation of Duties (SoD) and business process policies
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP accounting principles and financial close processes
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field

Nice to have

  • Active Workday Security certifications
  • Experience operating in an agile or hybrid ERP implementation methodology
  • Exposure to adjacent finance modules or enterprise financial middleware
